Used Diaper

That'll teach those kids to ride their bikes at night...
So the trip back to Bangkok from Laos a couple days ago was pretty brutal. Between the wicked hangover from a week of drunken tubing in Vang Vieng, the bus crash, the other bus breakdown, sleeping in the aisle of the 5th cramped bus for the night, and missing my flight, I was pretty beat by the time I made it here to Nepal.  But!  I made it, so it's all good.

I've been neglecting this poor baby for quite a while now, partially because it's hard to find wireless internet and mostly because I'm still really lazy.  A real quick recap since my last update so these pictures have a bit of context I suppose... I've wandered from Airlie Beach, Australia to Cairns, to Darwin, up and around the Island of Bali, Indonesia, flew to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, bussed down to Singapore, back to Kuala Lumpur, across to Kuala Terrenganu, up to the Perhentian Islands, trained to Bangkok, Thailand, bussed to Vang Vieng, Laos, bussed back to Bangkok, then flew to Kathmandu, Nepal, where I'm sitting snug in my $4 a night bed at this very moment.  The plan for the next few days is to buy some warmer clothes so I don't freeze to death on a mountainside and pick a direction.  There's the Everest base camp and a few other sites to the east and the Annapurna (sp?) circuit to the west.  My visa's good for 90 days, so I'm sure I won't have a problem squeezing them both in, just gotta decide which way to go.

Ya, and I was just kidding about running over the kids biking, it was a giant log truck.

Whoop, Whoop!

So, I finally got around to buying a new camera.  Thank god for the nonstop pouring rain, flooding, and bus-trapping mudslides over the past 6 days or I'd be mildly depressed about dropping hundreds of more dollars in the midst of a trip where I'm scrounging to save at every possible opportunity.

I took it for a test run on my last sail to the Whitsunday's onboard the Samurai and given the weather, it held up quite nicely I thought.  Here's a few shots
Kickin off the afterparty in style for my last trip

I was hoping to leave Airlie Beach on Wednesday so that I'd have a few days in Cairns to get my party on and hopefully get a few dives in at the reef, but because of the flooding all the buses skipped past us.  No worries though, weather permitting I'm jumping on a bus tonight.  I'll have a whole day to wander about before I need to catch my flight to Bali.  After Bali, the plan is to wander north through Southeast Asia and over to Nepal for a trek up to Everest's southern basecamp.  A climb up higher would be amazing, but a bit lofty right now I think.  I'll just have to come back with more time and money soon enough.

Master Plan: Heading North'ish

You See, What Had Happened Was...

I've been lazy... really, really lazy.  That's all.  A couple weeks ago I typed up a whole recap of the previous few weeks, but never got around to actually posting it.  I've since accidentally deleted it, so I'm going to just keep riding this lazy train and throw up a few pictures instead.

Coff's Harbour
Us at the bus stop at 4am.  A kind older lady decided to
walk off with Denise's bag a few stops back.  The next
bus with the bag didn't arrive until 6:20am, so we walked an hour
to the hostel, an hour back to the bus to get the bag, and another
hour back to go to sleep... oh, and it was uphill both ways!

Whitsunday Islands

I wasn't planning on doing much work in Australia, but when a job popped up on a sailboat that does dive trips out to the Whitsunday Islands, I couldn't pass it up.  I help with the sailing, do a little cooking, some random odd jobs here and there, then get free snorkeling, diving, food, and booze 6 days a week.

Ya, that's gum in my hair.  And ya, definitely found that

Last picture I took before my camera died this past
week.  I've successfully broken 3 cameras in 2 in a
half months.  I'm thinking I should just stick to the
shock and waterproof ones from here on out.
